THOSE Polls give me new hope for America

I think most people realize that we are collectively screwed, as a nation… and that there really isn’t any room for hate or a platform that’s built on fear in the 2008 presidential election.  We should not tolerate a candidate who conducts a speech in a public forum as if it were a rally in 1960…  It’s interesting to watch the McCain campaign come undone at the seams… but I’m glad to see that more of the battleground states are finally coming around. Obama/Biden 08.

All THAT rage is a national security concern

THAT One!

I think “THAT One” did a great job of keeping a straight face all night during the second presidential debate.   It should be duly noted.  I mean, come on, just watching John McCain wobble across the stage  getting more and more agitated was enough for an irrepressible LOL moment.  And I know I’m not the only one who almost threw up in my mouth the 14th time John McCain called me his “friend.” We’re not friends.  In fact, I’m questioning if he actually has any friends.  If he did have real friends, surely THEY would have reminded him that he would be up against a strong opponent (who despite his good looks and charm happens to be an extremely intelligent man and an astute thinker).   And THEY would have at least suggested that he get some rest the night before…  or take his meds or whatever.  But I prayed that he wouldn’t keel over right there on national television—with 63.2 million people watching.  This country has had enough drama in the past few weeks so I for one was really glad THAT railing was there to hold him up as he sneered across the stage at Barack Obama.

Take THAT! New Yorker

Go team Obama!  I’m loving the fact that the Senator and his team have decided to DIS The New Yorker Magazine for a spot on his press plane while he tours the Middle East and beyond…

That’s right. The Senator has declared that there will be no bad satire in the bubble!

I recently had a conversation with a friend who suggested that Obama was somewhat of a patsy and I walked away from the conversation feeling not as convinced as I had been that team Obama actually possessed the balls to stand up and fight some the sickening press that has transpired, particularly regarding his family.  My friend argued that if Obama lacked the back-bone to at least allow himself to get angry about some of THESE hateful “news” items, then what might we expect from him in the future?  I thought he kind of had a point.

But the embers of hope on the little flame in my heart have been re-ignited with this latest rebuff to The New Yorker.

And leave it to the Blogarati to say completely dumb things like the one over at the Huffington Post who said, “Retribution for unfavorable coverage is a chilling thing to contemplate.”  Oh please.  I suppose the Senator should just bend over and bring his own vaseline?

But the real issue is; with only 40 press passes allotted on the entire airplane, why on earth would The New Yorker get a seat in the first place?  I can think of 50 other more credible, more editorially sound media outlets that should fly with our next president.

THESE New Burgers I Love…

SPUTNIK BURGERS

262 Taaffe Place, Ft Greene-Brooklyn.  www.BarSputnik.com

All 100% organically grown meats are free of growth hormones and antibiotics, and the poultry is free range…  While I’m hooked on the beef, turkey, and veggie burgers, ala The Sputnik style, braver patrons get a choice of Chicken, Ostrich, Elk, or Bison.  Bartenders give you recommendations on Burger dressing combinations.  Burgers are never pre-cooked and… you get REAL onion rings!
