A new skin-care line THAT inspired me…

Fran Drescher

Last month Actress Fran Drescher introduced her new eco-friendly skin care line and I happened to catch a few of her media appearances in New York – The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Wendy Williams Show and coincidentally, the launch on HSN (The Home Shopping Network) on November 10th.  Now I love Fran Drescher in the sense that I think she’s a beautiful and talented actress, and a New Yorker no less, but it wouldn’t be exactly accurate to say I’ve been a “fan” of hers.  I didn’t watch The Nanny, nor can I remember anything else that she’s been in.  I only know Fran by her infamously nasal (New Yawk) drawl, and as cancer survivor, but I was instantly intrigued by her passion in introducing her new skin care line, FranBrand.

Fran was radiant.  So much that I wanted to support her.  The ingredients in the products are all natural, her skin looked great and a percentage of the proceeds (although fairly miniscule) would go to Cancer Schmancer http://www.cancerschmancer.org) the foundation founded by Drescher.

I was sold.

I hoped online and ordered The FranBrand Day Kit which includes 3 of the nine items in the line – the Sensational Serum (.5 fl oz), the Fabulous Face Lotion (1.35 fl oz), and the Luscious Lip Balm (.25 fl oz).

24 days later, I’m happy to report that I (finally) received my FranBrand Day Kit in the mail– and I’m really enjoying it.   The Fabulous Face Lotion is delightful.  The smell reminds me of white chocolate truffles and it goes on light and feels clean.  The Luscious Lip Balm is lip-smacking minty fresh.  But (ladies) you get the added benefit of a high gloss shine.  No, it’s not a last-for-hours type of shine, but it does the job and provides instant relief. The Sensational Serum packs a lemon-y punch and does an adequate job of hydrating the face before applying the face lotion.

I’m not sure why it took so long to ship from HSN.com but fortunately that’s the worst thing I can say about the entire process.  Oh—and that I’m learning to actually pay attention to the sizes posted on products I purchase online.  The jar sizes are pretty tiny, however, in this instance I will say that a little does appear to go a long way.

Besides THOSE minor things …

SPUTNIK BURGERS

262 Taaffe Place, Ft Greene-Brooklyn, NY  www.BarSputnik.com

T. 718 398 6666

Open Daily

All 100% organically grown meats at this Brooklyn hot-spot are free of all growth hormones and antibiotics.  The poultry is free range…  And while I’m hooked on the beef and veggie burgers, ala The Sputnik style, other epicurious types have a choice of turkey, chicken, ostrich, elk, or bison.   The bartenders are super friendly, and will give you the low-down on what accoutriments go best with which burger.  The burgers are hot off the grill, never pre-cooked and… Here’s the BEST part:

If you’re anything like me and you hate to be served those processed battered-filled “onion rings” you’ll  love these!

They’re  real onion rings on roids.
